Though the television was not invented in the 1950's, it quickly gained popularity then. In 1955, the average American family watched four to five hours of television daily. The television became so immensely popular, that it soon became a successful advertising medium as well. In addition, 3-D movies were a fad of the 1950's and still live on to today. With special "3-D glasses", one could view a movie in three dimensions and see the film move out of the screen. Also, books portrayed new ideas to the American people. For example, Ray Bradbury, an author of books such as I Robot, guided Americans to consider futuristic conditions.
